The World’s Next Top Copywriter Contest

Maybe you’re not the biggest loser. Maybe you actually know you can’t dance. But hey, you still think you can be a copywriter. In fact, you can’t resist the urge to write a headline, edit someone’s body copy or tweak that tag line over and over.

Well, here's your chance. In my ongoing effort to provide challenge, amusement and enlightenment in the form of marketing, I have developed The World’s Next Top Copywriter contest.

The Rules are Simple:

1. I will provide an assignment.* You will submit a headline.
2. You can only submit one headline per contest.
3. A panel of judges (me and my faithful puppy, Ziggy) will pore over entries and pick the winner.
4. Winners will be judged on whatever basis I choose and receive a gift certificate to Eddie Bauer.

Why Eddie Bauer? As a Copywriter, Creative Director and Marketing Strategist I spend every day in a different company headquarters, ad agency or coffee shop with creative clients and coworkers. And it has come to my attention that creative professionals worldwide share an unnatural love for Khaki Pants—in colors like Elderberry, Jute, and Talc found only at Eddie Bauer. So, if you're going to be the World’s Next Top Copywriter, I'll help you dress like one.

Fantastic entries to the latest contest. People got to the uniqueness of the offering and especially the benefit. But Laura nailed it with clarity and, even better, imagery. I think her line highlights the ease of use and what it will do for you all at once.
