The winner of the second "Who Wants to Be a Copywriter" contest was Jonathan E. for his entry,

When you're ready to retire, we'll save you more than a warm place at our table. 

The assignment was:

Park Lawn Retirement Community has just become one of the best values in senior living in their region. They have bought a mailing list of consumers 50 or older and want to send a postcard that hits two key messages plus conveys a sense of warmth, vitality and community. The key messages are:

• New lower rates on all plans
• More flexible meal plans can create even more savings
• You feel at home here and share good times with interesting people of all ages

The challenge was to develop just the headline for the postcard.

Jonathan is already a copywriter right here in Rochester, NY. He works for one of largest and most successful agencies in town. (I'm not afraid of competition!) I won’t say which agency he works for, since this entry was most like conceived on company time. The judges chose his entry because he eloquently and quickly hit on affordability and warmth in one statement aimed directly at the target audience in their time of decision making. Jonathan will receive an e-gift certificate to Eddie Bauer that he can use online, in stores or over the phone to add even more khaki to his great copywriting wardrobe.
