Forget
About Being a Millionaire...Who Wants to Be a Copywriter?
Come on be honest. I've
never met a friend, coworker, even a client who could resist the
urge to write a headline, edit some body copy or "tweak"
a tag line every now and then.
Well, here's your chance. In my ongoing effort
to provide challenge, amusement and spiritual enlightenment in
the form of marketing, I have developed a monthly contest...
The
Game Is Simple:
1. I will provide an assignment and you will submit
a headline.
2. You can only submit one headline per contest.
3. A panel of judges (trust me, I have a whole panel lined up
in my office) pores over the entries and picks the winner.
4. Winners will be judged on whatever basis I choose, but the
winner will receive a gift certificate to Eddie Bauer.
Why Eddie Bauer you ask? As a freelance Copywriter,
Creative Director and Marketing Strategist, I spend every day
in a different company, ad agency or coffee shop with creative
clients and coworkers. And it has come to my attention that the
creative professionals of North America have one thing in common.
A love for Khaki Pants and Sporty Shirts. Usually in colors like
Elderberry, Jute, and Talc only found at Eddie Bauer. So if you're
going to be a Copywriter, I'll help you dress like one.
The
Current Assignment is:
A unique art gallery that contains more than 3,000
pieces of contemporary paintings, drawings, photographs and sculptures
within a cavernous urban warehouse seeks to draw in more visitors
and members and create regional "buzz."
Your job* is to write a headline for a billboard/display
that will be placed in the gallery's local airport. The headline
should:
- Highlight the breadth and/or depth of the
gallery's collection
- Encourage both "locals" and "out-of-towners"
to visit
If
you haven't entered yet, send
me your headline. The entries will be listed below as they
come in.
The
Deadline is:
As
soon as the judges feel they've seen a winner or have finished
exploring the actual gallery highlighted above.
To see past assignments,
entries and winners, you can always visit them here Contest

#5, Contest#6, Contest#7.
* Alright folks, I'm going to say this one more
time...contest assignments are based on actual projects I have
been given and COMPLETED. I change the company names, but the
input is virtually identical to actual jobs. When the real jobs
are posted on the site, links are provided between the "portfolio
page" and the "contest page." |
